You can use Slack with a small team of 5 people or a huge Enterprise with thousands. Slack is a tool that enables work in one place, it is searchable, and it scales. But Slack was different because it was a communication and collaboration hub, a place to send messages, documents, photos, and videos. It was like a better combination of AOL instant messaging and G-chat by Google. Slack was a unique product when it first came out. When it comes to collaboration and messaging software, there are two companies that stand out: Microsoft Teams & Slack. Work from home tools really vary but the most important ones are video meeting software, messaging, and collaboration tools. ![]() It was an overnight shift for many workers and this once office perk became the new norm and reality for many. Knowledge workers (Computer workers) now had the opportunity to work from home every day. But things have completely changed as millions of workers complied with a stay at home orders and companies closed offices. According to data from 2019 and CNBC, around 43% of workers had the ability to work from home “occasionally.” Only 5% of workers were working from home full-time in 2019. Obviously things have changed now and she is at home everyday and might be for the rest of the year.Įven though many people have the luxury of working from home, it was not the norm before coronavirus. Over time, they finally agreed to let her work from home once every two weeks. It was an uphill battle since her management team was not a fan and preferred people to be in the office.
